Welcome to Our Middle School!

This is an exciting time at Riverfield. Our Middle School has doubled in the past couple of years as interest in our program grows, no doubt aided by the fact that we now have a High School to which our students can progress! We broke ground on a new Middle School building that will house four classrooms, an Art Studio, Science lab, commons area and an office.

We are proud of the way our Middle School students develop initiative and independence as they explore, learn and grow in Riverfield’s positive and supportive environment.

Personal attention is our greatest strength and we know each child within a short time and help each student succeed to the best of their abilities. Parents feel connected to their children and both feel a part of close knit community. This is not commonplace in schools today.

Academically, our program is very impressive. Our students continue to test two and a half grade levels above average on standardized tests. In addition, all of our Middle School Academic Bowl teams placed at the local and state levels and our 8 th grade team was State Champion! We also have a number of students who have earned a place in the National Junior Honor Society.

We continue to build a rich school experience for our students as social events and athletics play growing roles in our school. We have a full winter Homecoming and school dances, as well as active an active student government and vibrant school newspaper. Elective options such as Rock Music, Drama, PhotoShop, Yearbook, and Newspaper continue to grow. Our athletic programs continue to expand as well, and today, we offer athletics within and outside the school day, including basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, softball, tennis, and girls volleyball.

A couple of key courses contribute to the Riverfield experience: Awareness and Service. Awareness is a weekly course for 6th -8th graders that covers everything from drug and alcohol education, to media literacy, to team building. Service gives students the opportunity to give back to their school and strengthen responsibility by mentoring a younger child, helping take care of the school's many animals or providing assistance to a teacher or administrator.

We use an online tool, RenWeb, for parents and students to access grades, homework, school calendar, school directory and other helpful information from any internet connection. With this tool, parents feel in the loop and can initiate communication easily while students learn to use RenWeb to confirm homework assignments and manage their own academic success.

In short, we have a lot going on and are excited about where we have been, and where we are headed! To schedule a private tour to learn more about this exciting middle school and see how we are growing, please call 446-3553 or email Toby Clark.
