Mindful of the developmental process of children and adolescents, the Riverfield Counseling Department has created a unique program of both individual and group guidance to assist the personal growth and development of students as they move through their Riverfield experience.

Counselors and students meet weekly through Community Circle (K-5th grade) and Awareness classes (6th-12th grade).

These group opportunities allow discussion of age-appropriate topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, problem solving, body awareness, physical and mental health, self-concept, and educational/vocational planning. ‘Curriculum’ is informed by classroom needs as they arise.

Community Circle and Awareness classes serve as opportunities to build relationships, rapport, and trust between students and counselors so that connections are in place when individual support is needed. Confidentiality is of utmost ethical importance and is always practiced unless there is a question of the safety of the student or others.

Students may be referred by families, faculty, or themselves for individual guidance by contacting their student's Counselor.
